Genesis was commissioned to provide economic analysis and representations to the sector regulator regarding the licencing obligations of one of South Africa’s mobile operators, Cell C.

In a key report for the Office of the Presidency, Genesis developed a framework for economic regulators in the communications, transport, energy and water sectors. The framework focused on finding coherence in the design of regulations across the different sectors as differing approaches had previously been adopted.

Genesis was retained by Investec Private Equity to provide expert economic evidence and testimony on its acquisition of a minority stake in a ship-repair company, RJ Southey, given another ship-repair investment it held already.

Genesis Analytics partnered the IFC on its Nigeria MSME programme to help a large commercial bank develop an MSME strategy. 

In a precedent-setting case, Genesis was commissioned to assist Japan Tobacco International (JTI) in its abuse-of-dominance complaint against another tobacco company, British American Tobacco South Africa (BATSA).

Genesis was commissioned to provide expert assistance in assessing the competitive impact of a potentially large transaction in the short-term insurance industry. 

Genesis was commissioned to provide expert testimony and a report in a landmark competition case involving Botswana Ash and the American Natural Soda Ash Corporation (ANSAC), a cartel of American soda ash producers who had successfully opposed similar legal challenges in other countries.
