Social sectors financing
Overview
Our Social Sectors Financing team is dedicated to advancing human development through diagnostics underpinned by rigorous economic analysis.
We support solution design, backed by understanding the contexts within which we live and work. In addition, we support implementation, where we provide catalytic expertise to existing systems. We strive to create a world where everyone, particularly those marginalised, can achieve their full potential.
Areas of Expertise

Health financing and systems optimisation
Our mission is to enable our government to provide their citizens with greater access to the most needed healthcare
Smart, sustainable, and resilient health systems are a matter of urgency in securing a healthier future for all. Even more so in an era of declining traditional aid, mounting debt burdens, and increasing health threats.
We do this by helping governments to mobilize increased resourcing for health, optimise budget allocations and execution, identify and realise efficiencies in the health system, and support implementation-ready transition and sustainability plans.
We position ourselves as high-level strategic advisors and technical partners to the governments, development banks, and foundations working to solve these complex challenges. Our areas of expertise include costing and budgeting, economic evaluations, sustainability and transition planning, resource mobilisation solutions, policy dialogue and decision-making, budget planning and execution, workforce planning, integration of health systems, and strategic purchasing.

Nutrition financing
The case to invest in nutrition is strong, not only as a moral imperative—saving lives and preventing disabilities - but also for building human capital and driving economic growth. Good nutrition, particularly in women and children, lays the foundation for a productive, thriving society.

Social protection financing
We are dedicated to optimising social protection and child protection systems to promote human development within the Young World. Social protection encompasses a set of policies and programmes designed to shield individuals from poverty and mitigate risks to their livelihoods and well-being.

Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) financing
We understand the paramount importance of investing in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) to enhance public health, improve educational outcomes and stimulate economic growth. Access to clean water, adequate sanitation and hygiene facilities is essential for preventing diseases, promoting health and ensuring a productive society.

Humanitarian financing
We are dedicated to optimising humanitarian finance to build resilience, respond to emergencies and support recovery. Our work focuses on disaster risk finance, disaster risk reduction, anticipatory action, financing emergency responses, and strengthening systems in humanitarian settings.
Projects

Analysis opens tap to gender equality in African sanitation delivery
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation contracted JG Afrika and Genesis Analytics to conduct a needs assessment and landscape analysis to pinpoint how the foundation could best support its African-based urban sanitation partners with technical assistance that resulted in targeted and sustainable gender mainstreaming.

Counting the health costs of VAT on soap in Madagascar
Genesis Analytics partnered with UNICEF and the Government in Madagascar to evaluate whether an exemption in the value-added tax on soap would increase access to soap and achieve better WASH-related outcomes, and drive tax policy decision-making based on the recommendations derived from the evaluation.
