Dr Sergio Torres Rueda

Manager (Health)

Dr Sergio Torres Rueda is a manager in the Health practice. He is based in France. 

Sergio is a specialist in costing, economic evaluation and priority setting, with project experience in Africa, Asia and Latin America. His expertise encompasses HIV, STIs, Covid-19, immunisation, and prevention of violence against women and girls. He has provided technical assistance to governments on the design of health benefit packages and the institutionalisation of health technology assessment.

Before joining Genesis, Sergio was an assistant professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) where he focused on health economics and health systems research for 13 years. He still holds an academic honorary appointment at LSHTM. He is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and reports. He has also consulted independently for international organisations, NGOs and the private sector.

Sergio has a bachelor’s in Political Science and Sociology from Columbia University in New York, and a master’s in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Health Economics from the LSHTM. He speaks Spanish, English and French.
