Phepo Mogoba
Senior Associate (Primary Data Intelligence)
Phepo Mogoba is a Senior Associate in the Primary Data Intelligence Unit at Genesis, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has extensive experience in public health research, clinical study administration, and implementation science. She specialises in end-to-end data lifecycle management, quantitative statistical analysis, and the operationalisation of implementation science frameworks for complex health interventions.
Prior to joining Genesis, Phepo held multiple roles at the University of Cape Town, including research coordinator and data analyst. In these capacities, she worked on various HIV-related studies focusing on maternal, child, and adolescent health, overseeing participant recruitment, data collection, and fieldwork management.
Her technical work involved designing and managing REDCap and Microsoft Access databases, and performing statistical analyses in Stata. With a strong track record in research dissemination, she has authored a number of peer-reviewed manuscripts and presented findings at national and international conferences through both oral and poster presentations. Beyond technical execution, she was responsible for the teaching and supervision of postgraduate students.
At Genesis, Phepo leverages her PhD training to address real-world implementation challenges, focusing on the precision and oversight required for large-scale data collection including fieldwork management, data system development, quality control, data cleaning and analysis. She applies her expertise in study design and questionnaire development to deliver agile, high-quality data intelligence. By bridging advanced biostatistics with impactful reporting and data visualisation, she ensures that complex research findings are effectively communicated to support evidence-based decision-making in the public health sector.
She holds a PhD in Public Health (Implementation Science) from the University of Cape Town, which was funded through the prestigious UNC-WITS D43 fellowship. She also holds a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the same institution.
