Paul Jorgensen

Manager (Evaluation for Development)

Paul Jorgensen is a manager in the Evaluation for Development practice. He is based in South Africa.

He has worked across Africa in climate change, ecosystem services and environmental management-related projects. These include local government climate action planning, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, emission-reduction scenarios, climate risk and vulnerability assessments, climate change policy and strategy, biodiversity and ecosystem service assessments, conservation planning and environmental and social impact assessments and management.

Previously he led an ODA-funded programme at C40 Cities that assisted 10 African megacities in developing ambitious and inclusive climate action plans to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. In addition, he has supported private and public clients as a consultant working across the mining, agriculture, energy and government sectors.

Paul has a Social Science degree in Economics and Geography and a master’s of Environmental Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. His master’s research focused on the intersection between ecosystem services, corporate policy and local government decision-making. He also holds Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR™) certificate, is a ISO 14001 lead auditor in environmental management systems and has worked with voluntary sustainability standards such as Alliances for Water Stewardship, Rainforest Alliance and Bonsucro.
