Paul Anderson
Managing Partner (Competition and Regulation)
Paul Anderson is the managing partner in the Competition and Regulatory Economics practice and has a wealth of experience in providing expert analysis and advice relating to a wide range of competition and regulatory matters. He joined Genesis in 2004.
Paul has provided primary economic analysis relating to proposed mergers and alleged anti-competitive behaviour in the petrochemical, natural gas, retail, paper, telecommunications, shipping, airline, construction, glass, agriculture, mining and financial services industries. He has also published a number of papers dealing with key aspects of competition law in South Africa.
Paul has further been involved in a number of projects focused on the role and effect of various regulatory measures in South Africa. He has, among other projects, assisted on a review of Eskom’s MYPD2 and MYPD3 tariff applications, an assessment of the impact of various carbon-tax proposals on the South African economy and a review of pharmacy dispensing fees proposed by the Department of Health. He has also provided economic and regulatory advice to the Presidency regarding a framework for the design of sector regulatory institutions.
Paul holds a master's degree in Economics from the University of Cape Town.
