Monica Longwe

Social and Behavioural Change Lead (Health | TB TSU))

Monica Longwe is a social and behavioural change communications (SBCC) lead on the TB Technical Support Unit in the Health practice.

She has developed and implemented public health and SBCC programmes related to HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, and nutrition, among others. Her technical work has involved developing community strategies, driving community mobilisation interventions, and coordinating public health policy and advocacy initiatives.

Monica contributed to the development of Malawi’s current HIV Prevention Strategy. She has provided support in her field to multiple countries in the Eastern and Southern African regions.

She also has experience in qualitative research, advocacy and capacity strengthening.

Monica has held key roles in health-focused organisations. She was project manager for PATH, focusing on HIV/TB prevention in South Africa, and programme manager for the National TB Think Tank and for the USAID-funded MATRIX programme.

Monica has a bachelor's in Humanities from the University of Malawi and a master's in Public Health from the University of the Witwatersrand.
