Mark Robertson

Principal (Shared Value and Impact)

Mark Robertson is a principal in the Shared Value and Impact practice.

He was a management consultant on strategy and development projects across Africa for international donor organisations.

Mark has expertise in financial inclusion, notably in the insurance industry, having been head of strategy and insights for Hollard Life in South Africa where he was responsible for the development and management of strategic direction and the use of data. At Hollard he ran strategy development processes in Ghana, Zambia and Mozambique.

He represented Hollard on industry bodies, among them the South African Insurance Association’s financial inclusion steerco. More recently he worked for the Microinsurance Network (MiN) in Luxembourg where managed MiN’s African members and the Microinsurance Landscape Study and supported global country workshops, knowledge management and content creation. In 2021 he facilitated or presented (virtually) at workshops/conferences/industry strategy sessions in Brazil, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines and Zambia.

Mark has a Certificate in Music and Biblical Studies from the Nexus Academy of Music Ministry in England, a BA (Hons) in English (second major in Mathematics) from Rhodes University in South Africa, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of South Africa (UNISA), and an MSc in International Strategy and Economics (ISE) from the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
