Kim Bloch
Manager (Primary Data Intelligence)
Kim Bloch is a manager in the Primary Data Intelligence Unit, based in Cape Town, South Africa.
With over 15 years’ experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, programme implementation and tech for social good, she has worked across public health, social development and food systems. She specialises in quantitative research, including study design and methodology, data collection instrument development and digitisation, fieldwork management, data management and quality assurance, analytics and technical writing.
Kim has successfully managed the data lifecycle for numerous large-scale complex data collection projects in South Africa such as the Return to Treatment HIV adherence study, the MINA for men living with HIV impact evaluation and the SARS-CoV-2 serosurveillance study. She has also contributed technical writing skills for the country’s authoritative Thrive By Five Index 2024 fieldwork report and ECD Census Deep Dive analytical report.
Prior to joining Genesis Analytics, she worked as a senior organisational development manager and senior research consultant at ikapadata, where she played a leadership role managing operations and leading various primary data projects.
She also held various senior research, monitoring and evaluation, and project management roles at Paediatric-Adolescent Treatment Africa (PATA), Violence Prevention through Urban Upgrading (VPUU), University of Cape Town and the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation. Notably, she co-founded and ran a women-led social enterprise from 2021–2023, Umthunzi Farming Community, which facilitated market access for low-income, small-scale urban organic farmers across Cape Town.
At Genesis, Kim has been instrumental in driving the PDI strategy, advising teams on primary data collection methodologies, optimising data collection, data management and quality assurance systems, and facilitating capacity building and training in primary data intelligence. She is committed to enhancing the collective capabilities of Genesis as a leader in delivering data intelligence that informs critical decision-making and unlocks value for our clients.
Kim holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from the University of California, Davis. She has published various academic publications, conference posters, educational materials and technical reports on topics including urban farming and supply chain management; sexual and reproductive health and HIV; urban upgrading, alcohol and violence prevention and tuberculosis.
