Ashlee Blacher
Analyst (Primary Data Intelligence)
Ashlee is an analyst in the Primary Data Intelligence unit, based in Cape Town, South Africa.
She has extensive experience in biostatistics, public health research and child and adolescent mental health. She specialises in data analytics, visualisation and statistical modelling in Stata and R Studio.
Prior to joining Genesis Analytics, Ashlee worked as a Research Assistant and Biostatistician on the CombinADO project through the University of Cape Town’s School of Public Health, where she led the investigation into the prevalence and determinants of depression and anxiety among adolescents and young adults living with HIV in Nampula, Mozambique. At this time, she played a key supporting role in the coordination and delivery of the 2024 World Congress of Epidemiology, hosted by the University of Cape Town.
At Genesis, Ashlee has strengthened data quality and research systems, with a focus on quality control, cleaning and reproducibility. She leads internal training in RStudio, building the team’s capacity in data analysis and coding best practices. Ashlee frequently works across health and early childhood development (ECD) sectors, supporting the delivery of robust, evidence-based insights for projects in South Africa and beyond.
Ashlee holds a Master of Public Health in Biostatistics and Epidemiology and a Master of Arts in Psychological Research from the University of Cape Town (UCT). She also has a Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Psychology from UCT.
