Principal (Competition and Regulation)
Andre Frauenknecht is a principal in the Competition and Regulatory Economics practice. He joined Genesis in 2010 as an analyst.
He has significant competition law and economics experience across the oil and chemicals, agricultural production, infrastructure, construction and beverages industries in South Africa. Highlights include working on a number of large mergers including the pivotal Pannar/Pioneer seed merger, the recent Coca-Cola bottling case, which was a pivotal case in shaping the role of public interest, and the macro economic impact assessment of Eskom’s proposed electricity tariff increase during MYPD3. He was also involved in the land-mark excessive pricing case against Sasol.
Andre has a master's in Economics from the University of Cape Town. He was as a lecturer of econometrics and micro-economics there prior to joining Genesis.
