Sizing up lay of the land for rural financial markets and CCA
The International Fund for Agricultural Development contracted Genesis to inform IFAD’s portfolio for private sector engagement in climate change adaptation (CCA).
We carried out a series of case studies from six Eastern and Southern Africa countries, namely, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi and Zambia. The case studies sought to assess the extent to which a rural financial market for CCA exists in these countries.
The final output was a report on the financial institution landscape for CCA private sector finance regarding rural and agriculture investments. This included strategy/supply/products by banks, micro finance institutions, savings and credit cooperative societies, nonbank financial institutions, as well as key public/donor support.
