Rwanda review project on renewable energy

The Government of Rwanda received $48.94 million from the Strategic Climate Fund: Scaling up Renewable Energy Programme (SREP), for the deployment of off-grid connections through the Renewable Energy Fund (REF) project, housed and managed by the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD).

As the project implementing agency of the REF, the BRD provides wholesale financing to participating financial institutions (PFIs) as well as direct financing to mini-grid developers and locally registered off-grid solar companies.

BRD appointed Genesis to develop a monitoring, evaluation and learning plan for the REF project, including an online monitoring dashboard to monitor key performance indicators, and to build the capacity of the REF team to embed the MEL plan into their day-to-day operations.
