Green light for hostile agriculture merger

Genesis was retained by Suidwes Holdings to provide an economic assessment of the competitive effects likely to arise as a result of its planned hostile merger with Agrinet Holdings.

Suidwes, a former agricultural cooperative that operates in the North West province and parts of the north-western Free State, provides mainly agriculture-related products and services to end consumers.

Agrinet is a wholesale supplier and distributor of irrigation products, general merchandise and industrial products, primarily to agricultural and hardware retailers but also to industrial markets.

Our team presented an expert report as well as a rebuttal report. The merger was conditionally approved by the Competition Commission.
