Genesis turns matchmaker for financial inclusion trusts and donors

A network of trusts working to deepen financial inclusion across a multitude of African countries commissioned Genesis to conduct an evaluation of potential funding partners.

The assignment included the following:

Identifying common areas of programming and interest for each of the financial inclusion entities, and articulating this to potential funders.
A detailed desktop review and analysis to reach insights into the financial inclusion donor space.
Interviews with representatives of major donor organisations to identify gaps and compatibility in terms of market systems development approach.
Analysis of the major and emerging topics on the deepening of financial inclusion, including credit systems for the poor, cross-border and remittance payments, and climate finance.

The output of the project was the development of funding proposals. The team also conducted early-stage negotiations with each funder.
