Genesis reviews IFC’s Support for Compact with Africa initiative

Genesis was appointed to conduct the mid-term review (MTR) of the IFC Support for the Compact with Africa (CwA) initiative (ISCA).

The CwA initiative seeks to enhance private sector investment in Africa. It works through the formation of compact teams, comprised of various stakeholders who work together to identify priority investment needs, as well as the key constraints to delivering on these investments. They then define the necessary macroeconomic, business and financing environment reforms required to address these constraints. ISCA was launched in 2017 as a technical assistance facility run by the IFC to support implementation of the CwA agenda.

The purpose of the MTR was to reflect on the implementation of the ISCA facility to date, to assess the extent to which it is on track to achieve its objectives, and to provide recommendations for possible course correction to optimise the effectiveness of the facility for the remainder of the programme (until December 2021).
