Genesis drafts report for government fintech working group

The IFWG (intergovernmental fintech working group) is made up of the representatives from the South African Reserve Bank, Financial Sector Conduct Authority, National Treasury, Financial Intelligence Centre and the South African Revenue Service. It hosted its second Fintech workshop in September 2019.

The two-day workshop covered six key areas of innovation: digital identification, artificial intelligence, open banking, cybersecurity, innovation, central bank digital currencies.

Genesis attend the workshop and drafted the post-workshop report, summarising the key takeaways from the workshop.

Genesis team members also actively participated in the workshop, with Genesis’ Ange Maseko presenting on South Africa in the Digital Age. The Fintech scoping study that Genesis undertook in South Africa on behalf of the World Bank was also presented by a World Bank representative.
