G2P choice for women: Lessons from SA, Zambia, Bangladesh

The Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) commissioned Genesis to conduct a qualitative assessment with the aim of gathering empirical evidence to support the potential benefits of incorporating a choice-based model into the G2P (government to persons) payment system for G2P recipients.

To validate CGAP’ s hypothesis, Genesis conducted primary research, utilising survey questionnaires and focus group discussions. The Genesis team also conducted a comprehensive review of existing literature on G2P choice in the targeted markets, along with the development of a country selection matrix and a women's empowerment framework.

The final deliverable comprised three in-depth case study reports, shedding light on the advantages of G2P choice for female recipients in South Africa, Zambia and Bangladesh. Genesis also conducted a cross-country analysis to unlock invaluable insights into G2P systems across the three markets, forming the basis for well-informed recommendations.
