Expert analysis on value of casino land claim

Genesis was retained by Sun International (South Africa) to provide expert inputs in the context of a land claim against the Wild Coast Sun hotel complex.

Genesis provided an expert assessment of the financial value of the Wild Coast Sun hotel complex in response to a valuation report submitted by the claimants.

The valuation report was an input into negotiations between the parties. Genesis was able to demonstrate that the approach and underlying assumptions of the claimant's expert were unsustainable.

Furthermore, the project team determined the impact on the Wild Coast Sun hotel complex if the casino licence were to be lost. The team developed a complex financial model to determine accurately the hotel complex’s profitability with and without its casino licence.

The financial model assisted Sun International in negotiating a settlement with the claimant.
