Expert advice on claims of dairy price-fixing

Genesis was commissioned to assist one of the country’s largest dairy producers in responding to allegations by the Competition Commission that it was involved in price fixing in its milk procurement activities.

The project team focused on assessing whether certain aspects of the producer’s procurement activities could result in competitive harm and/or be considered to constitute a form of prohibited price fixing in terms of the Competition Act. The Competition Commission has since abandoned its case against the company.
