Expert advice on LPG merger

Genesis was commissioned to provide an expert economic report related to the merger between the second- and fifth-largest LPG wholesalers in South Africa, namely Easigas and Reatile Gaz.

The team analysed the range of segments in the supply of LPG, and identified that the two firms played different roles in the industry and served distinct customer bases. Identifying this differentiation opened up the possibility that the merger would result in significant efficiencies.

The merger was approved (with conditions).
