Independent assessment of poultry joint venture

Genesis was commissioned to conduct an independent economic assessment of efficiency claims relating to the parent stock breeding programme that was part of the Elite joint venture between Supreme Poultry and Astral Foods.

The assessment was conducted on behalf of Supreme Poultry and Country Bird in respect of their application for interim relief from continued involvement in the joint venture.

The two companies argued that the continued existence of the JV and related supply agreements contravened the provisions of the Competition Act by preventing Country Bird from dealing with other suppliers of parent stock.
