Electricity cost model for Nelson Mandela Bay

Genesis was commissioned to assess the current electricity tariff structure and the impact of introducing a green tariff for renewable energy in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality in the Eastern Cape.

The project team conducted an electricity cost-of-supply (COS) analysis in order to define cost-reflective tariffs and determine the impact of introducing a green tariff for renewables in the municipality. The analysis focussed on assessing the impact of introducing a green tariff on the standard tariffs and revenue of the municipality.

The project team was asked to present the results in the form of a report and a presentation, and was then required to train municipal officials in the use of the model developed for this purpose.
