Development of a tariff framework for the Department of Home Affairs

The Department of Home Affairs commissioned Genesis Analytics to develop a revenue tariff methodology, including suggested steps, rules and a costing model. It would allow the department to annually adjust revenue tariffs for enabling documents (passports, visas etc.) within the Republic of South Africa and at foreign missions.

Genesis developed a user-friendly methodology to correct existing revenue tariffs to cost-reflective levels. For subsequent years, Genesis provided guidance to the department on a mechanism for updating tariffs annually without the need to engage further in a detailed cost analysis.

The methodology and model produced by Genesis will enable the department to develop cost-reflective revenue tariffs in a transparent, objective and straightforward manner.
