Developing a community health investment case in Liberia

We are supporting UNICEF Liberia to develop a Community Health Investment Case. Liberia faces significant health challenges, with unequal access to health services and a high burden of disease. We bring our expertise in health economics and financing to this project, aiming to provide crucial evidence that will help secure increased investment and optimise resources for universal health coverage.

Our work focuses on reviewing relevant literature on the health system and community health programmes, as well as a review of health financing. In addition, our work assesses the status of community health service delivery, identifies gaps for delivery, and costs community health interventions.

We use a Costing Tool and the Lives Saved Tool, to determine the value for money of investment options. We will also determine affordable remuneration for integrated services and develop national investment options through a Fiscal Space Analysis. Moreover, an implementation roadmap will be developed to ensure financial sustainability of community health programmes.

The project includes a validation process to ensure systematic, transparent, and participatory decision-making.

We will produce a final, validated investment case report and a policy brief to highlight the importance of investing in community health. We will also participate in an advocacy meeting and a global webinar to share the experiences and outcomes of the project.
