Advice on Commission probe into supermarket food prices
Genesis was commissioned to assist a leading national retailer in responding to the Competition Commission's 2009/2010 market inquiry into supermarkets and food prices.
The project team provided in-depth analysis of a broad range of key issues for the industry, including category management practices, buyer power, supplier relationships, property leasing arrangements, private-label products, information sharing, and margins, especially those on basic foodstuffs.
The commission concluded that its investigations provided no evidence of contraventions of the Competition Act.
