Enhancing HIV prevention in Africa through the South to South Learning Network

Genesis Analytics, in partnership with the University of Manitoba, implements the South to South HIV Prevention Learning Network (SSLN). Building on five years of success, in the third phase of the SSLN, we are supporting 16 African countries to strengthen their HIV prevention programmes through shared learning and action.

The global HIV prevention landscape is at a pivotal moment, facing both funding constraints and the exciting introduction of new products. To meet these challenges, the SSLN is shifting from a traditional programmatic focus to a pan-prevention approach. This model empowers African leaders to accelerate HIV prevention programming by integrating services, ensuring sustainable financing, and driving country stewardship.

A core focus of this new phase is supporting the introduction of long-acting prevention products, specifically Lenacapavir (LEN). We are providing tailored learning to the nine early-adopter countries in Africa to fast-track readiness and implementation of these new products.

We utilise a layered learning model that ranges from broad-based webinars to deep-dive country exchanges and technical assistance. This ensures that knowledge is not just shared but translated into tangible policy changes and programme improvements. Through the complementary insight-to-implementation (i2i) arm, we synthesise evidence to help countries turn this into local action through adoption and adaptation to their contexts.

Over the past five years, we have celebrated many successes with a network of over 600 Country Champions and having hosted over 300 knowledge exchange activities.
