The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nutrition Programming
22 March 2026
In nutrition programming, the core challenge is not knowing what works. It is closing the gap between evidence and implementation.
Data exists. Tools exist. But in many contexts, decisions are still based on information that arrives too late to prevent harm.
Strengthening how systems translate data into action is central to improving outcomes.
That is where Artificial Intelligence (AI) may have a role.
Following our recent convening with Audere Africa and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, we have published The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Nutrition Programming.
Our position is pragmatic.
AI will not resolve the structural drivers of malnutrition like poverty, food prices, or weak supply chains. But when embedded within national systems, governed responsibly, and financed sustainably, it can strengthen the execution layer of nutrition programming.
