The ambitious plan, approved by Cabinet in March 2025, aims to integrate government services and establish a national digital identity system, positioning the country among a growing number of nations leveraging Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to enhance efficiency, security and accessibility.
A strategic shift toward digital governance
The roadmap outlines a structured approach to modernising South Africa’s public sector, with an Inter-Ministerial Committee - led by Minister Malatsi - overseeing implementation.
