Kenya signs digital job creation MoU with Genesis Analytics

22 May 2023

Genesis Analytics today signed an MOU with #Kenya to look at ways of opening up channels for employment of the country’s young digital talent.

Speaking during the signing between the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy (MIC&DE) and Genesis Analytics on 22 May 2023, Permanent Secretary Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, MBS said the partnership will enable Kenya brand itself better thus attracting more players.

“There is huge demand for talent and we believe Kenya can offer its talent to serve the world. We recently came up with the Jitume Programme as a means of providing digital skills and opportunities,” said the PS.

In his address, Genesis Analytics founder and CEO Stephan Malherbe said that the firm is focused on empowering the African youths.

“We believe that Africa will be the custodian of the future youths of the world. In Africa, there is no country better placed than Kenya to offer the requisite digital services,” he said. Genesis is also keen to help Africa prosper through maternal and child health to early child development and education.

According to Genesis partner Mark Schoeman the MoU would leverage networks for funding, establishing high-level programme design, coordination and integrating activities of government-initiated programmes such as Ajira Digital and Jitume Programme.

“We are primarily responsible for engaging with global operators to set up delivery centres in Kenya,” he said, adding that unlocking the opportunities in Kenya will require bringing international demand to Kenya through interventions such as targeted investor facilitation and matchmaking to establish new delivery centres.

He emphasised on the importance of creating industry intelligence on skills in demand to coordinate training providers and overall provision of support to the government to attract investors.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by key officials from MIC&DE, Genesis Analytics director Betty Maina, Genesis Analytics manager, Tito Tibi, and CloudFactory MD, Jonathan Beardsley.
