Genesis Analytics advises a retail financial services provider on its Africa strategy

Genesis Analytics has just completed a market analysis of eleven African countries for the financial services division of a major South African furniture and household appliances retailer in order to support its country entry strategy.

A full macroeconomic analysis was undertaken to provide insight into national growth trends and social stability. Employment and expenditure patterns were also analysed to define expenditure by segment and product. This was followed by an analysis of competitors in the retail sectors, which was used to highlight potential business risks and identify key retail role players.

Finally, a high­level review of the financial services sector was undertaken across all credit providers, including formal banking and microfinance institutions, in order to give an indication of the potential demand for the company’s financial services offering. The findings of this analysis now form the basis of the firm’s African expansion strategy
