Nigel Whyborn is a procurement specialist at Genesis Procurement Services, based in the UK.
He has extensive experience in delivering international procurement and supply chain services. Nigel's expertise lies in managing complex procurement cycles, including contract and supplier performance management, for donor-funded projects and international clients.
He has in-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, import/export procedures and logistical challenges, particularly in African countries. He has worked on programmes funded by the Japanese, British and US governments as well as the World Bank, giving him in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of procurement regulations.
While working at Crown Agents, Nigel was seconded to offices in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Pakistan, where he provided hands-on support and training in procurement management. He has also provided procurement services to Ghana, Guyana, Kenya, Nepal, Sri Lanka, St Helena, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, Ukraine, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
At Crown Agents, Nigel was a part of a team that procured emergency supplies of pharmaceuticals, medical and lab equipment for several treatment centres as part of the Ebola response in Sierra Leone in 2016.
He also contributed to the Covid-19 response for British Overseas Territories in 2019 and 2020. He worked on the procurement of emergency supplies to Ukraine, including the procurement of medical supplies and generators.
