Hirsi Farah
Principal, Procurement Lead (Genesis Procurement Services)
Hirsi Farah is the principal procurement lead of Genesis Procurement Services, based in Austria.
He has a wealth of experience in procurement, project management and leadership across diverse sectors, notably international development, health supply chain and IT. His expertise encompasses procurement strategies, vendor management, contract management, project management and grant/fund management.
Hirsi has spearheaded development projects in a variety of roles for various international donor-funded programmes such as the World Bank Group, FCDO and USAID.
He has worked as a senior procurement specialist for Development Alternatives Inc on projects funded by USAID and the World Bank that focused on private sector development in Somalia. Later, as deputy chief of party, he oversaw the disbursement of substantial business grant funds to businesses, non-profits and institutions, forging partnerships and sharing risk in private sector ventures.
He also served as a senior procurement adviser for the Somalia Stability Fund, implemented by Adam Smith International, providing high-level procurement support for large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and airports.
In addition, he has held procurement and vendor management roles in the private sector for Network Rail, Travelport and Fujitsu Services. He has managed complex projects, streamlining procurement processes and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
Hirsi holds a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, as well as an International Baccalaureate Certificate from the Vienna International School.
