Daipayan Ghosh

Senior Associate (Climate Finance and Economics)

Daipayan Ghosh is a senior associate in the Climate Finance and Economics practice. He is based in India.

He is an applied development economist with experience in government and public sector consulting, quantitative and qualitative research, and strategy design and implementation.

Daipayan has consulted for international development cooperation agencies including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Agence Française de Développement and United Nations entities. He has advised governments at national, sub-national and urban levels in Asia and Africa as well as independent policy think-tanks and non-government organisations with the aim of delivering effective solutions at various stages of development policy/project life cycles. He is experienced in undertaking environmental, social and governance due diligences for public and private enterprises. He has helped to develop evidence-based products in these areas.

He holds a master’s in Economics from Shiv Nadar University and a bachelor’s in Economics with Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Calcutta. He holds an executive certificate in Public Policy and Management from the Indian School of Business. He has undertaken training provided by the Georgetown University Initiative on Innovation, Development and Evaluation, the World Bank Group’s Open Data for Resilience Initiative and the International Monetary Fund’s Fiscal Affairs Department, among others. He is fluent in English, Bengali and Hindi.
