Strategic due diligence to refocus Ghanaian bank's business

Genesis Analytics was commissioned by a private equity fund to conduct a strategic due diligence on a Ghanaian bank looking to transform into a more retail focused bank.

Specifically, this included analysing the viability of the bank’s plans with respect to integration with the mobile money eco-system and the contribution this strategy would make to the bank's overall performance and growth and, in particular, to reducing its cost of funds.

The project required a detailed analysis of the opportunities for digitisation and how this would impact the performance of the bank, and an evaluation of the readiness of the bank to follow an omni-channel strategy from a technology perspective.

We also provided an assessment of the current customer value propositions offered by the bank to determine the bank's readiness to deliver distinct and compelling services to retail customer segments, and the overall readiness of the bank to support the expansion of the retail base.

Recommendations covered all the key areas in which the bank needed to develop additional capabilities to successfully execute the proposed strategy.
