Investment agenda to empower Niger’s youth
Genesis, in partnership with UNICEF Niger, is spearheading an initiative to empower Niger’s youth by addressing the challenges they face in a rapidly evolving world, particularly in the areas of education, skills development, entrepreneurship and employment.
Today’s youth face immense challenges, exacerbated by technological changes that threaten job security through automation, coupled with educational systems that have not kept pace with modern requirements. In Niger, these hurdles take on an even greater significance among disadvantaged groups—those marginalised due to gender, ethnicity or disability.
Our mission is to generate a detailed map of the current state of youth affairs in Niger. By understanding the landscape—from educational attainments and skills shortages to entrepreneurial ecosystems and employment barriers—our goal is to uncover scalable, innovative programmes that can significantly uplift the nation’s young population.
Our collaborative effort extends beyond analysis. The project will also involve engaging local stakeholders to craft a strategic implementation roadmap. This plan will ensure coordinated actions and clear accountabilities, integrating with existing efforts to maximise impact.
Genesis brings insights from partnerships with UNICEF offices across Africa and the Middle East, where similar analyses have laid the groundwork for targeted investments in youth development. Drawing on this experience and the broader network of the UN initiative, Generation Unlimited, we are poised to transform educational, employment and entrepreneurial outcomes for Niger’s youth.
