Impact due diligence on Egyptian financial institution investment

Genesis was commissioned by a global development financial institution (DFI) to undertake an impact due diligence on prospective financial institution (FI) investment in Egypt.

The assignment included conducting a representative survey of the MSME client base to understand the characteristics of the clients of the FI, e.g. sector, revenue, employees, financial constraints and other factors.

The study also included secondary desktop research to understand the MSME financing landscape in Egypt to inform the investment decision in relation to the FI’s client base. Genesis finally held discussions with the DFI’s investment team and other relevant stakeholders.

The outcome of the project provided recommendations on the potential impact of the investment.
