Genesis assists Nigerian farmers to 'climate-proof' projects

PropCom Mai-Karfi (PM) is a rural and agricultural market-development programme in northern Nigeria which aims increase the incomes of 650 000 poor men and women in the area.

It is doing this by stimulating sustainable, pro-poor growth in selected rural markets; and improving the position of poor men and women within these market systems.

Genesis was contracted to review PM’s array of interventions from a climate lens. It is advising PropCom how to “climate-proof" its intervention activities in light of regional and national policy and implementation practices.

The Genesis team was responsible for reviewing literature and engaging key public, private, and community beneficiary stakeholders to ensure that recommendations to PM improved small-holder’s adaptation and resilience to climate change in a manner that was sustainability, scalable, and feasible.
