Enhancing access to finance for EAC women cross-border traders
Genesis undertook a diagnostic study to inform discussions and policy adjustments to advance access to finance for women cross-border traders and the identification of firm-level barriers that limit their bankability.
The study described the status, gaps and opportunities for enhancing access to finance for women cross-border traders. Genesis conducted desktop research, interviews with key stakeholders related to women’s access to finance in the East African Community region, and focus-group discussions with women traders.
Three-pronged analysis included a supply-side analysis of products available to women traders, demand-side analysis on challenges faced by women traders, and a regulatory and policy analysis on barriers faced by women in accessing finance.
