Dashboard supports Covid vaccine roll-out in South Africa

Despite progress in rolling out the Covid-19 vaccination programme in South Africa, there are still millions of vulnerable individuals who have not yet been vaccinated. There is a need to implement targeted interventions, per population group and geography, to increase national vaccination coverage.

Genesis is providing technical assistance to the South African National Department of Health (NDOH) for the Covid-19 vaccination programme. As part of this work, we have developed a dashboard to monitor and visualise the programme’s progress over time.

This has involved establishing and managing a large database, defining programmatic indicators, and building user-friendly visualisations in Power BI that reveal patterns in vaccination.

Genesis used an iterative, agile development process for this project. This allows us to incorporate stakeholder feedback in real-time, so that the dashboard serves a wide range of users.

The dashboard is providing a valuable platform to analyse gaps in vaccination coverage across different population groups. It is enabling the NDOH and its partner organisations to prioritise the interventions most likely to accelerate uptake and achieve programmatic targets.
