Genesis collaborated with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on a transformative project – the development of a green employment diagnostic tool and guidelines at the country level to enhance the understanding of the interplay between the environment, employment and climate.

Digital technologies have the potential to improve lives in low and middle-income countries by broadening access to information, goods, and services. However, many digital solutions - particularly in the world of agriculture, resilience, nutrition and water, security, sanitation and hygiene (WSSH) - are designed, developed and deployed in silos. Fragmented digital solutions formulated in silos can result in poor user experiences, entrenched information blockages, constrained uptake and artificially limited scope.

Genesis Analytics partnered with USAID and DAI under the Digital Frontiers initiative to formulate a practical guidance note to address this challenge. The note equips USAID mission staff, advisors and implementing partners working in agriculture, resilience, nutrition, and WSSH to deliver digital solutions that holistically meet a variety of program participant needs, by breaking the right silos in solution design, deployment and delivery.

Airbnb contributed more than R23.5 billion to South Africa's GDP in 2022 - a 115% increase and remarkable rebound - from pre-COVID levels in 2019. This translates to a total contribution of almost 50,000 jobs. This is one of the highlights of Genesis Analytics report on Airbnb's significant contributions to South Africa's economy and the growth of more inclusive tourism. 

This workbook contains a consolidated database of indicators and other metrics from a range of information sources related to sustainability planning and measures of HIV program and health system performance.

The purpose of the interactive database is to provide planners with a curated and consolidated list of metrics that are categorised across various dimensions for review when considering or designing monitoring and accountability frameworks for health system improvement, transformation or sustainability.

In collaboration with the Gates Foundation, Genesis produced a consolidated catalogue of health system performance indicators from an extensive range of sources. This interactive catalogue aims to provide planners with a curated repository of metrics that are categorised across various dimensions to support the development of monitoring and accountability frameworks for health system improvement, transformation, or sustainability.

Genesis is delighted to release the report: Building the Metaverse: A Roadmap to Scaling XR in Africa. The work was supported by Meta and offers important insights into how XR technologies can contribute to education and skills development, job creation and economic competitiveness on the continent.

Genesis’ Country Assessment of Youth (CAYE), finalised in August 2022, was part of a project led by UNICEF and Generation Unlimited (GenU) to support youth development in Ghana. 

GenU brings together world leaders and organisations to help young people worldwide as they transition from education and training to professional careers. Our assessment shows that Ghana has a large and growing youth population (57% of its population is under 25) but that many young people struggle to access quality education and training, decent employment opportunities, and supportive environments for entrepreneurship and civic engagement.

To address the concerns of HIV and unplanned pregnancy, researchers are developing multipurpose prevention technologies (MPTs) that aim to reduce women’s risks of HIV and provide effective contraception.

A promising mechanism for MPT delivery is via microarray patches (MAPs). MAPs are an easy-to-use, self-administered, discreet delivery technology that could improve adherence to HIV PrEP and access to long-acting contraceptives.

PATH partnered with Genesis to assess MAPs technology in South Africa, while CHDC conducted a parallel study in Uganda. The combined results have now been published in PLoS ONE. Insights from end users and other stakeholders will guide MAPs' development for HIV PrEP and as a MPT, ensuring they meet the needs of the end user and fit into the healthcare system.
