Chris Hyde

Head of Commercial and UK Operations

As head of Commercial at Genesis, Chris Hyde leads the design, implementation, embedding and monitoring of our commercial and financial strategy. His role extends across the firm, where he monitors operations and firmwide initiatives.

Chris is also responsible for overseeing critical functions such as IT, business development, finance, compliance and business integrity at the group level. He is also heads up our UK operation.

He brings to his work at Genesis the ability to navigate complex contracts and develop commercially viable solutions. He has extensive experience in project, financial, operations and commercial management. He has in-depth knowledge of sectors such as good governance, health, economic development, climate change and education.

His leadership roles span projects funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in the UK, USAID and various UN agencies, and positions at Mott MacDonald, Oxford Policy Management (OPM) and Crown Agents.

As deputy commercial director at Crown Agents, Chris led a team of experts in commercial management. He developed commercial proposals, led contract negotiations and managed contract amendments.

As senior commercial bid manager at OPM, he spearheaded the development of commercial proposals for large-scale development projects. He also played a pivotal role in redesigning the proposal approval process for the organisation, introducing a gated system to enhance decision making and secure input from senior management on strategic bids.

Chris held the position of commercial manager at Mott MacDonald where he showcased his skills in commercial, project, operational and financial management. He provided guidance on commercial matters for international development projects, ensuring efficient financial management and adherence to contractual obligations.

Chris holds an honours in Psychology from Swansea University in Wales.
