Genesis Analytics at the forefront of the electricity tariff debate

The energy crisis and an initial 200% price increase proposed by the energy utility monopoly, Eskom, in 2010 was one of the most significant economic developments of recent times. In a comprehensive assessment of the price proposal on behalf of the largest energy users in South Africa, Genesis tackled both the regulatory accounting approach and the projected capital requirements of the utility, as well as the broader policy issues of energy planning and the involvement of independent power producers. This analysis shaped much of the energy regulator's final tariff decision.
