Dr Julia Bird

Strategy Adviser (Climate Finance and Economics)

Dr Julia Bird is a strategy adviser in the Climate Finance and Economics practice.

She is an experienced economist with expertise in cities and infrastructure, sustainable economic development and the green transition in academia and consultancy, both in the UK and internationally.

As a consultant, Julia has managed projects for both private and public sector clients, including the UK government, international organisations such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, and private foundations. She has helped firms and governments consider the impacts of their policies and investment decisions on climate change, and their adaptability and resilience to a rapidly evolving climate and natural world. She has developed economic models, including CGE models, input-output tools, and econometric analysis, to address the links between climate change and well-being for current and future generations.

Julia was previously a junior research fellow at the University of Oxford, and gained a PhD from Toulouse School of Economics. She has published articles in a number of leading peer-reviewed journals. She has experience on studies covering all regions of the world, including the UK, France, Brazil, Kenya, Ghana, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Australia.
