Genesis was commissioned to advise a major South African cement producer on certain trade-related aspects of a complex investment decision.

Genesis was engaged by a global mining house, as part of its long-term investment planning process, to provide analysis on the state of the political economy and how the mining industry would be affected by the likely direction of policy and politics.

Genesis was hired by Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to assess the corporate social investment spending by the mining sector in Lesotho.

Genesis was appointed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Finance in Zambia to assist the country in developing a framework for appraising projects in order to ensure alignment between policy objectives of the government and the implementation of projects.

Genesis was asked by a major private-equity firm to conduct a strategic due diligence of a South African debt-management company. It was interested in understanding the potential for growth and the regulatory trends in the debt-management industry. 

Genesis applied its experience in value chain analysis to determine which South African agricultural value chains presented the highest potential inclusive business models for international donor organisation, GIZ. Three value chains were selected, and their inclusive business model design investigated to identify what type of facilitation efforts GIZ could adopt to support model replication and scaling. 

Genesis was commissioned to provide an in-depth economic assessment of whether Sasol’s polypropylene export prices were likely to represent a valid comparator to the domestic prices that were alleged to be excessive. 

Genesis assisted with the co-ordination and production of the stress-testing submission of a big four South African bank to the Bank of England.

Genesis was commissioned to complete a comprehensive market sizing of the digital banking platforms in South Africa. This involved a market view and a detailed competitor sizing for online channels.
