Genesis leads USAID’s $17m fight against infectious diseases in Africa

Genesis Analytics is a USAID prime partner for the Long-Term Exceptional Technical Assistance Project (LEAP), a $17-million initiative being implemented in 17 countries in Africa.

The overall goal of the project is to provide Ministries of Health (MOH) with locally relevant long-term and short-term expertise in Infectious Diseases (ID), health systems and management. This will enable them to effectively engage and coordinate stakeholders in order to implement evidence-based locally relevant solutions. The project also aims to build and coordinate the various technical, financial and human resources necessary for shared ownership, quality services and epidemic preparedness.

To meet the objectives of LEAP Local, Genesis Analytics aims to:

  • Increase the capacity of the MOH to establish systems that are more efficient, effective, self-reliant, inclusive and transparent.
  • Improve the quality and preparedness of ID programmes to ensure quality services for all populations.
  • Improve in-country coordination between ID programme stakeholders and cross-country sharing of evidence-informed approaches.

The LEAP project will be catalytic and critical to African countries’ ability to adopt the latest global best practice prevention, diagnostic and treatment approaches. It will facilitate access to novel tools such as improved/shorter treatment regimens, chemoprophylaxis, immunisations and diagnostic tools. These resources will be instrumental in responding to current and future ID challenges.
