Africa is particularly vulnerable to the physical impacts of climate change, due to both its location and lack of adaptive capacity. South Africa, as one of the world's highest greenhouse gas emitters, faces the growing international imperative to de-carbonise its economy.

The climate change practice plays a pro-active facilitation role in this transition to a carbon-constrained and climate-resilient future in Africa. We recognise the importance of appropriate national and international policy development and support policy makers and interest groups in this process.

We also recognise the role of markets, particularly emerging carbon markets in enabling this transition. To this end, we involve ourselves in the development of market infrastructure initiatives and provide capacity to assist Africa engage in the carbon markets effectively.
