  • Examples of recent work: back
Project: Diagnostic of the Kigali-Mombasa Corridor (2007)
Client: Commissioned by The Brenthurst Foundation for the Rwandan Presidency
Overview: Genesis Analytics performed an in-depth analysis of factors contributing to the prohibitive cost of transport in Rwanda. The project comprised three phases
- desktop research to assess work already undertaken to resolve the problem, such
as efforts at regional integration and infrastructural improvement
- in situ observation of the day-to-day reality of freight transport from Kigali to
  Mombasa over a 7-day period
- synthesizing the results of the first two phases to deliver a report providing a
comprehensive picture of the corridor and an analysis of key obstacles

Project: Analysis of the economic impact of the deregulation of commercial aviation in Mozambique(2007)
Client: Commissioned by The Brenthurst Foundation and ComMark Trust for the Mozambiquan Presidency
Overview: Genesis Analytics developed a cost-benefit analysis of, and proposal for, the deregulation of the air transport regime in Mozambique. The study made specific recommendations for improved regulation and provided an estimate of the downstream economic impact of regulatory change, particularly on the tourist sector. Impact estimates drew on the international experience of air deregulation, which has consistently resulted in significant price reductions and increases in passenger volumes. Proposals were made for improvements to tourism investment procedures and incentives and the removal of structural barriers inhibiting tourism.
