Infrastructure

Much of the infrastructure that business in the developed world takes for granted is not available in the developing world, or is plagued by a combination of high prices and poor service delivery. Without crucial infrastructure, which includes services as varied as transportation, telecommunications and electricity, the basic prerequisites for investment do not exist.

Many infrastructure industries share common characteristics, such as high fixed costs, limited scope for competition and the need for some form of regulation. The Business in Development practice is able to utilize the expertise embodied in the Competition and Regulation practice, as well as our experience of development policy priorities, to diagnose problem areas, formulate strategy, and design regulatory solutions for infrastructure markets.
