Extractive Industries
Extractive industries are a substantial component of many African economies, but do not always foster growth and development. In fact, unless handled carefully, extractive industries can undermine stable development and democracy. In certain instances, extractive industries have contributed to social conflict, civil war and institutionalized corruption.
